Our mission is to combat human trafficking among third country nationals in Greece.
Every human being deserves respect, dignity and equality. Trafficking of Human Beings (THB) is a fast-growing crime that impacts millions of individuals globally, representing a serious violation of human rights.
Together, we can stand against it.
About us
PROCAP aspires to establish a robust protection and support system for third-country nationals who are (presumed) victims of trafficking or vulnerable to being trafficked, empowering them to access their rights while also advocating for the prevention, early identification, and response to human trafficking.
The Challenge
Greece, a key entry point for asylum seekers and displaced populations in Europe, faces significant challenges in combating human trafficking. Vulnerable groups, particularly those fleeing conflict and persecution, are at high risk of exploitation. Despite the EU’s Anti-Trafficking Directive, gaps in victims’ protection and criminal proceedings persist. The war in Ukraine has worsened the situation, increasing trafficking risks, especially for women and children. Addressing these issues requires urgent and coordinated action.
Greece – Human Trafficking in Numbers
According to the 2023 National Reference Mechanism (NRM), were submitted to NRM, a significant increase from the 259 reports recorded in 2022.
The majority of these cases are women undercoming outside of EU.
Around are asylum seekers.
